"i'd like to do you after school, like some homework..."

last nite, s and i went to see the beautiful and talented alicia keys live at the palace theatre. her voice and piano skills are for real, y'all...not just perfected in the studio, as is the music of far too many, ummm, "artists" these days. highlights included "how come you don't call me" (my fave), "girlfriend," and of course the expected "fallin'" and "a woman's worth." it wasn't the best concert i've seen, but it was solid. she looked great (thicker in person, which is usually a good thing *grin*...and a smile to light up the place), the crowd was feelin' her, the vibe was good, and the band and backup singers were tight. we were so relieved that we saw her solo, instead of as an opening act for maxwell, which had been our original plan...until we heard (in the car on the way downtown last fall) that his show had been postponed. we would have been tres disappointed with a 20-minute set!

anyway...she's got several more stops on her
solo tour, so i suggest you check her out. glenn lewis was the opening act, and he was good too, though we were unfamiliar with all but one of his songs...kind-of a neo-stevie wonder kinda sound, but not in a cheesy way.
